This book focuses on wire cables, and includes a description of their origins, their development and diverse uses in technology, as well as their possibilities and advantages in surgical medicine. In the latter, the main indication is for tension banding. However, because this principle has — very one-sidedly and from a technical point of view incorrectly — been viewed as dynamic-eccentric, it stands to reason that its mechanism should be described in detail. The mathematical formula, as a vehicle of scientific thought, is not sufficient however when dealing with medical aspects, due to the fact that it frequently lacks the desired level of lucidity. All details discussed in this book, which at times are relatively complex, will therefore be expressed as simply as possible.
