Can Pulsatile Ocular Blood Flow Be a Predictor of Future Visual Field Loss in Normal-Tension Glaucoma?
This presentation looks at the association between pulsatile ocular blood flow (pobf) and visual loss in normal-tension glaucoma (NTG). Progression in glaucoma is best recognised as change in visual function. This is usually seen as a reduction in static visual loss on white-on-white perimetry. It should be identified as a change in focal rather than global parameters, and this can either be by event analysis (as shown on STATPAC 2) or trend analysis (demonstrated by linear progression, e.g. the PROGRESSOR program) . Studies using a significance level set at p< 0.05 have shown that both STATPAC 2 and PROGRESSOR identify the same progressing locations, but that PROGRESSOR will identify them sooner .
