Zusammenfassung

Der Virusbefall der Leber ist die häufigste Ursache für eine entzündliche Lebererkrankung. Die Infektion beschränkt sich im wesentlichen auf die Leber selbst bei Erkrankung durch die Hepatitisviren im engeren Sinne. Die Leber kann aber auch im Rahmen einer generalisierten Virusinfektion mitbetroffen sein, wobei die Entwicklung der Leberschädigung oft das Schicksal des Patienten bestimmen kann. Im ersteren Fall bezeichnen wir die Erreger als Hepatitisviren im engeren Sinne. In letzterem Fall sind dies Erreger einer engen Gruppe bestimmter Viren, die im Regelfall andere Zielorgane haben, aber auch hepatotrope Eigenschaften besitzen.
