Die bildgebenden Verfahren in der Kardiologie können in nicht invasive und invasive Methoden unterteilt werden. Eine genauso wichtige Einteilung ist die in Konturmethoden — Koronarographie, Magnetresonanztomographie, Elektronenstrahltomographie, Synchrotonkoronarographie — und Schnittbildverfahren — intravaskulärer Ultraschall, Elektronenstrahltomographie, Magnetresonanztomographie und optische Kohärenztomographie
