Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung einer Fülle neuer Wirkstoffe in den letzten Jahrzehnten hat zu einer Zunahme unerwünschter Reaktionen der Leber auf Pharmaka geführt. Wenngleich arzneimittelbedingte Leberschäden insgesamt eher selten vorkommen, sollen doch etwa 2% aller im Krankenhaus auftretenden Ikterusfälle und bis zu 25% der fulminanten Hepatitiden medikamentös induziert sein. Auch pflanzliche Präparate und „natürliche“ Heilkräuter sind potenziell hepatotoxisch. Das breite Spektrum medikamentöstoxischer Läsionen erfordert derartige Schäden differentialdiagnostisch immer in Erwägung zu ziehen.
