Abstract
In Chap. 4 we discussed that in many semiconductor lasers the residual modepartition noise may exist in the total output, which enhances the total intensity noise. The residual mode-partition noise arises from the imperfect negative correlation among longitudinal modes. Consequently, squeezing may be lost or impaired even when both conditions required in the original theory — a quiet pump and operation far above the threshold — were satisfied.
