Die Nebenniere ist für die Synthese von über 50 verschiedenen Steroiden verantwortlich. Sie besteht aus 3 Schichten, der Zona glomerulosa, der Zona fasciculata, und der Zona reticularis, die als Kompartimente der Mineralocorticoide, Glucocorticoide und Androgene dienen (Abb.3-1).
