A cyst (from the Greek κιστισ or κιστη = cyst) is a pathologic formation consisting of a closed cavity with its own wall of definite epithelium or anomalous tissue, which usually contains fluid or other materials. Cysts are classified according to etiological or histopathological criteria. We will follow the latter convention, as this corresponds more closely to the CT findings (Table 11.1).
