Zusammenfassung
In der dermatologischen Praxis können Laser bei zahlreichen medizinischen und ästhetisch-korrektiven Behandlungen eingesetzt werden. Lasertherapeutische Verfahren werden vom Patienten bevorzugt angenommen, der Absatzmarkt für Lasergeräte expandiert ungebrochen. Weltweit wurden 1999 im ästhetisch-korrektiven Marktsegment Lasergeräte für $ 300 Millionen umgesetzt, davon $ 150 Millionen für Haarentfernung, $ 50 Millionen für Skin resurfacing und $ 100 Millionen für vaskuläre Veränderungen. Im dermatologischen Bereich betrug der Umsatz etwa $ 100 Millionen. Auf diesem dynamischen Markt dominieren marktwirtschaftliche Gesetze, die mit den Wertevorstellungen einer traditionsverpflichteten Dermatologie oft nur schwer in Einklang zu bringen sind.
