Zusammenfassung

Das Mammakarzinom ist der häufigste bösartige Tumor der Frau. Jährlich erkranken in Deutschland etwa 45.000 Frauen neu. Durch die insgesamt steigende Lebenserwartung der Bevölkerung wird eine zunehmende Inzidenz bei älteren Frauen beobachtet. Die Zahl der Frauen im Alter von über 50 Jahren, die pro Jahr an einem Mammakarzinom neu erkranken, ist von 254/100.000 im Jahre 1973 auf 365/100.000 im Jahre 1994 gestiegen. Hingegen blieb die Inzidenz bei den unter 50-jährigen Frauen mit etwa 30/100.000 über die Jahre konstant. Eine 65-jährige Frau hat bereits eine 3-mal höhere Wahrscheinlichkeit, in ihrem nächsten Lebensjahr ein Mammakarzinom zu entwickeln, als eine 45-jährige. Wie die Inzidenz steigt auch die Mortalität mit zunehmendem Alter an. Die altersabhängige Mortalitätsrate für über 60-jährige Frauen ist in Tabelle 28.1 wiedergegeben.
