Zusammenfassung

Die IgA-Glomerulonephritis (oder IgA-Nephropathie) wurde 1968 erstmals von Berger u. Hinglais (1968) als eine eigenständige Form einer Glomerulonephritis (GN) beschrieben, deren Merkmal eine massive Ablagerung von Immunglobulin A im Mesangium der Glomeruli ist. Eine exakte Diagnosestellung ist deshalb nur durch die immunfluoreszenzmikroskopische Untersuchung von Nierenbiopsiematerial möglich. Sie ist heute weltweit eine der häufigsten glomerulären Erkrankungen bei Erwachsenen mit einem Anteil von 26-31% aller nierenbioptisch gesicherten GN-Formen (D’Amico 1987) bei großen geographischen Unterschieden. Die Erkrankung ist auch bei Kindern in Europa und Ostasien recht häufig (Michalk et al. 1980; Yoshikawa et al. 1989; Berg u. Widstam-Attorps 1993; Weber u. Waldherr 1994).
