Zusammenfassung

Als Narkotika (Anästhetika) werden im deutschen Sprachraum Medikamente bezeichnet, die dazu dienen, das Bewußtsein kurz-, mittel- oder längerfristig reversibel auszuschalten. Im englischen Sprachraum wird der Begriff „narcotics“ meist synonym mit Opioiden verwandt. Im Unterschied zum Schlafenden ist der Narkotisierte nicht erweckbar. Abhängig von der Applikationsweise werden die Pharmaka in Inhalations- und Injektionsanästhetika unterschieden.
