Zusammenfassung

Die Wirbelsäule und der Spinalkanal sind für die MRT besonders geeignete Untersuchungsregionen, da die MRT eine multiplanare und übersichtliche Abbildung größerer Wirbelsäulenabschnitte erlaubt. Dazu kommen als weitere Vorteile der hohe Weichteilkontrast und das Fehlen von Knochenaufhärtungsartefakten. So hat die Einführung der MRT zu einer Umorien-tierung des diagnostischen Vorgehens bei verschiedenen Erkrankungen der Wirbelsäule und des Spinalkanals geführt. Die Indikationsbreite der etablierten diagnostischen Verfahren, wie CT, Myelographie und Myelo-CT, wird eine deutliche Einschränkung erfahren.
