Zusammenfassung

Im Rahmen des Alterungsprozesses kommt es zu physiologischen Veränderungen des Organismus, woraus sich funktionelle Einschränkungen ergeben, die aber noch keinen Krankheitswert per se haben. An diesen Altersveränderungen der verschiedenen Organe und des gesamten Organismus sind sowohl extrinsische (umweltbedingte) wie intrinsiche (genetisch bedingte) Faktoren beteiligt. Eine der wichtigsten extrinsischen Einflussgrößen stellt die Ernährung des älteren Menschen dar. Diese wiederum hat direkten Einfluss auf die Lebensqualität und die Lebenserwartung des Menschen.
