Zusammenfassung
In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erkranken jährlich ca. 40000-50000 Menschen an einem kolorektalen Karzinom (Holm 1989). Bei 20-25% finden sich zum Zeitpunkt der Diagnosestellung bereits synchrone Lebermetastasen. Im weiteren Verlauf entwickeln trotz kurativer Resektion des Primärtumors 30-60% der Patienten metachrone Metastasen in der Leber (Scheele 1994). Zum Zeitpunkt des Todes kann in bis zu 70% der Fälle eine Lebermetastasierung nachgewiesen werden, 25% der Patienten mit kolorektalem Karzinom versterben bei zugrundeliegender Lebermetastasierung am Leberausfall. Bei 10-20% der Patienten bleibt die Leber bis zum Tode einziger Metastasierungsort (Steele 1991).
