Abstract

Esophageal cancer is among the ten most frequent cancers in the world [1]. This malignancy displays changing epidemiologic features and tremendous geographic variation. Within the past 3 decades, the incidence of adenocarcinoma of the esophagus and proximal stomach has increased dramatically in the United States and Europe [26].
