Manufacturing Branches in Poland — A Classification Attempt

  • Conference paper
Exploratory Data Analysis in Empirical Research

Abstract

The goal of the study was the determination of the manufacturing branches attractiveness from the investors’ point of view. For the research, a vector of descriptive variables included in the state statistical reports was used. Their normalised values were applied for evaluation of the manufacturing branches. The attractiveness of individual branches on the particular levels of manufacturing sector (section D in NACE — Nomenclatures des Activitiees de Communite Europeene) was determined. On the level of divisions and groups clusters were obtained by k-means method. Additionally the homogeneity of divisions was examined. On the level of class individual variables have been combined into composite indicator, which has become the evaluation criterion. Finally the ranking of manufacturing branches was made.
