Zusammenfassung

Entwicklung der Bronchoskopie. Die Bronchos- kopie, die Spiegelung der Atemwege, wurde vor über 100 Jahren erstmals von Gustav Killian in Freiburg zur Entfernung von Fremdkörpern angewandt, nachdem geeignete Instrumente und elektrische Beleuchtungsverfahren entwickelt waren und insbesondere das Kokain zur örtlichen Betäubung zur Verfügung stand (Killian 1898). Bereits in den Anfangszeiten wurde die Bronchoskopie auch schon zur Diagnostik und gelegentlich zur lokalen Therapie von damals allerdings noch sehr seltenen Tumoren der Atemwege eingesetzt. So findet sich bereits um 1915 auch ein Bericht über die erfolgreiche endoluminale Bestrahlung eines Tracheatumors und die Implantation von Stents.
