Zusammenfassung

Warum kann Person A nach einem Herzinfarkt bald wieder aktiv am Leben teilnehmen, während Person B bei medizinisch vergleichbarem Herzinfarkt völlig aus der Bahn geworfen wird, sich zurückzieht und nach wenigen Monaten einen Reinfarkt erleidet? Warum ist manchen Menschen, die eine Krebstherapie durch Zytostatika erhielten, häufig übel, obwohl die medikamentöse Wirkung dies nicht mehr erklären kann? Warum kann eine Person mit Asthma im einen Fall Leistungssportler werden, im anderen Fall kaum mehr zu einer normalen Lebensführung in der Lage sein, obwohl der medizinische Befund bei Erstdiagnose vergleichbar ist? Und warum wirken in vielen Fällen Medikamente nicht so, wie sie sollen? Auf viele dieser Fragen können psychologische Erkenntnisse eine Antwort geben.
