Zusammenfassung
Energie ist eine entscheidende Ressource für Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft: als Prozesswärme, zum Antrieb von Kraftmaschinen, für Licht und Transport. Die Verfügbarkeit immer höherwertiger Energie (von Holz über Kohle, Öl und Gas zu Strom) war und ist ein entscheidender Motor technischer Innovation und trägt in großem Maße zur Wirtschaftskraft aller Ökonomien bei.
