Zusammenfassung

Die Therapie des Kreislaufstillstands besteht aus kardiopulmonaler Reanimation (CPR) in verschiedenen Stufen. Zu den Basismaßnahmen („basic life support“; BLS) gehören Mund-zu-Mund-/Mund-zu-Nase-Beatmung oder Beutelbeatmung sowie Thoraxkompressionen. Die erweiterten Reanimationsmaßnahmen („advanced life support“; ALS) bestehen u. a. aus Intubation, Applikation von Vasopressoren und Antiarrhythmika, sowie der Defibrillation. Im Oktober 2010 sind vom European Resuscitation Council neue Leitlinien zur CPR veröffentlicht worden, die zuletzt 2005 überarbeitet worden waren. Die Leitlinien sind anhand eines wissenschaftlichen evidenzbasierten Konzepts entstanden, wobei die Literaturbewertung sich nach einer standardisierten Vorlage mit einem speziell entworfenen Bewertungssystem richtete, an dem ca. 300 internationale Experten aus über 30 Ländern beteiligt waren.
