Turkmenistan is located in South-Central Europe. It borders Caspian Sea to the west, Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the northeast and Afghanistan to the east, south of Iran. It covers469.9 thousand of square kilometers and has a population of 5.11 million. Its GDP reaches $28.06 billion in 2011. Through the index system and evaluation model, the environment competitiveness index of Turkmenistan ranks at 122 in 133 countries.
