The enormous size of Russia and the remoteness of many areas from the sea result in the dominance of the humid continental climate and Russia has a wide natural resource base. It covers 1,6376.9 thousand of square kilometers and has a population of 142.96 million. Its GDP reaches $1,857.77billion in 2011. Through the index system and evaluation model, the environment competitiveness index of Russia ranks at 81 in 133 countries.
