Dermatology Atlas for Skin of Color

Abstract

Idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis (IGH) is an acquired leukoderma of unknown etiology. Clinically, these lesions are found more commonly in the elderly on sun-exposed surfaces of the skin. IGH does not require treatment; however, patients may seek out a dermatologist for aesthetic reasons. This chapter will review the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, histology, differential diagnosis, as well as the available treatment options for IGH.
