Abstract
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that can be directly or congenitally acquired. The stage of the disease as well as the ethnicity, gender, and health of the patient influence the cutaneous presentation. Syphilis can mimic several dermatological conditions, especially in the secondary stage. This chapter will review the epidemiology, clinical presentation, differential diagnoses, and treatment of syphilis with an emphasis on acquired secondary-stage syphilis.
