Zusammenfassung

Brandverletzungen und Verätzungen stellen eine Diagnosegruppe dar, deren Ausprägung ein weites Spektrum umfasst. Von der kleinen Brandblase bis zur schwersten, ggf. tödlichen Hautschädigung sind alle Formen zu beobachten. In diesem Kapitel wird die Entwicklung des Verletzungsaufkommens in Deutschland im Zeitraum 2002 bis 2012 betrachtet. Verwendet wurden publizierte Daten des Statistischen Bundesamtes und ein Teil der innerhalb der Deutschsprachigen Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Verbrennungsmedizin gesammelten epidemiologischen Daten. Internationale Vergleiche sind auf Grund der geringen Anzahl von Untersuchungen und ihrer fehlenden Vergleichbarkeit angesichts unterschiedlicher Datenbasis kaum möglich. Im Jahr 2012 wurden in 19 Brandverletztenzentren für Erwachsene in Deutschland 1994 Patienten aufgenommen. Von diesen starben 202 Patienten. Ohne Einbeziehung der Daten aus Kinderzentren starben damit 85,6 % aller stationär aufgenommenen Brandverletzten in speziellen Zentren.
