Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff „Hormon“ 1 wurde von Starling 2 1905 für Stoffe geprägt, welche von „innersekretorischen Drüsen“ an das Blut abgegeben werden. Hormone mußten von „Enzymen“ 3 abgegrenzt werden, welche zuerst von Kühne 4 an Hand des von ihm entdeckten Trypsins (vgl. S. 197) so benannt wurden. Heute „gehören“ Hormone und Enzyme weitgehend den Biochemikern, und wir wollen uns hier auch nur so weit mit ihnen beschäftigen, wie wir sie für ein Verständnis physiologischer Mechanismen und Zusammenhänge benötigen, ohne uns dabei in das heute nahezu unübersehbare Detail der Hormonchemie zu verlieren.
