Zusammenfassung

Auf die Evolution, die der weibliche Organismus im Laufe der Gravidität durchmacht, folgt nach der Entbindung eine Involution, d. h. Rückbildungsvorgänge in jenen Geweben, die in der Schwangerschaft und während der Geburt Veränderungen durchgemacht haben. Bekanntlich dauert es bei verschiedenen Organen und Organsystemen unterschiedlich lang, bis der endgültige Rückbildungszustand erreicht ist, der jedoch in mancher anatomischer und physiologischer Hinsicht nicht mehr genau den Verhältnissen vor der Gravidität entspricht. Die Verschiebungen in dieser Hinsicht sind im allgemeinen nach der ersten Entbindung größer als zwischen den später folgenden Schwangerschaften. Versucht man, die Evolution und Involution, insbesonderen die anatomischen Veränderungen, graphisch darzustellen, so bekommt man eine langsam ansteigende Kurve, die dann von ihrem Höhepunkt bei der Entbindung zunächst steil absinkt und danach asymptotisch flacher wird bis auf ein Niveau, das etwas höher liegt als die Ausgangslage.
