Principles of Mechanics

Until now we have used Newton’s axioms to describe the motion of bodies. Equivalent are other basic laws which frequently are called Principles of Mechanics. In many cases it is of advantage to use these principles instead of Newton’s laws when formulating the equations of motion. Several of them shall be discussed in this chapter and we will learn how to apply them.
