Abstract
The concept of a dynamic state of protein metabolism has pictured a common metabolic pool of nitrogen (Allison, 1955). This metabolic pool is provided with nitrogen constituents not only from the changing state of tissue proteins but also from dietary amino acids. Since tissue-protein synthesis requires a proper orientation of amino acids, any anticipated action of an anabolic agent may, therefore, be varied by the amino-acid pool which exists at the time the agent is administered.
