Differentiation of action of various anabolic steroids

  • Chapter

Abstract

The role of androgen derivatives in stimulating growth, maturation, and maintenance of the protein stores of the organism is well known. However, quite apart from their marked metabolic properties, these steroids possess androgenic, progestational, and antigonadotrophic effects, the relative intensity of which varies from one group of androgen derivatives to another. For many years intensive efforts have been made to characterise properly and to separate as completely as possible the metabolic and sexual endocrine properties of these steroids.
