Abstract
As the Table of Contents of this book demonstrates, multiresolution representations have many uses in image processing and analysis. This paper will not attempt to classify, or even to list, all of these uses. Rather, it will concentrate on certain specific types of “pyramid-like” representations and will describe some of their potential uses in image analysis.
