Abstract
An adequate operation of steam generators and turbines is possible only, if minimum qualitative requirements concerning feed water, boiler water and steam are ful-filled. These minimum qualitative requirements have been fixed in guidelines, which have been worked out by the responsible technical organisations and from time to time are revised according to the state of technical knowl-edge. For steam generators up to a permissible operating pressure of 68 bars, these guidelines are published by the “Vereinigung der Technischen Überwachungsvereine” (VdTÜV) in Western Germany. For steam generators with higher operating pressure these guidelines are pub lished by the “Vereinigung der Großkraftwerksbetreiber” (VGB). Parts of these guidelines are published in this chapter according to the VdTÜV-guideline April, 1983 edition and the VGB-guideline October 1980 edition.
