Der Simulator Marty ist ein von Maloney und Hall entwickeltes Trainingssystem, das eine realistische Augennachbildung in einem „Kopf-Mannequin“ zur Verfügung stellt. In das Auge können künstliche Linsennachbildungen eingesetzt werden, die in verschiedenen Härtegraden und in Ausführungen mit und ohne Kapselnachbildung geliefert werden. Der Film zeigt, daß mit diesem Unterrichtshilfsmittel bestimmte Methoden der Kataraktchirurgie, insbesondere der Phakoemulsifikation, geübt werden können. Es werden Kapsulorhexistechniken sowie Phakoverfahren wie „Divide-and-Conquer“ und Endophako demonstriert.

Summary

The Marty simulator, develoved by Maloney and Hall, is a training system, which provides a realistic eye imitation in a head mannequin. Artifical lens imitations can be inserted into the eye. They are available in different degrees of hardness, and both with and without an artifical lens capsule. The video shows that special methods of cataract surgery, especially of phacoemulsification, can be practiced with this instruction device. Capsulorhexis techniques and phaco procedures like the “divide-and-conquer” or “endophaco” styles are demonstrated.
