Zusammenfassung
Die erste Endarteriektomie der A. carotis im Sinne einer Eversionsendarteriekto-mie wurde von DeBakey et al. im Jahre 1959 besehrieben (4). Sie durchtrennten die A. carotis communis (ACC) unterhalb der Bifurkation, um dann eine Ever-sionsendarteriektomie (EEA) der A. carotis interna (ACI) und A. carotis externa (ACE) vorzunehmen (Abb. 1). 1970 berichtete Etheredge über 72 Fälle, die er nach derselben Technik wie DeBakey operierte (6).
