Part of the book series: Springer Series in Chemical Physics ((CHEMICAL,volume 27))

Abstract

This paper will describe some characteristics of relaxation processes related to the depth and the symmetry of the inner-shell hole. The discussion will be based mainly on a particular element, lanthanum, comparing the response of atomic La with that of La complexes and La metal.
