Abstract
Owing to the differences in administration between our countries, as well as the differences in the relations between the administration and the sports organisations, it is not possible to discuss this subject in a general manner. Therfore I will concentrate on the factors that have affected the official sports policy in Finland, particularly the support to international sports. I will begin by recalling some basic facts.
