Abstract
May the festive music of Ludwig van Beethoven today keep away the restlessnes and rush of our everyday life, may it open the door for a friendly American-German Surgical Meeting and may it ease us into 4 days of scientific exchange in peace and with an open mind, — in a harmonic atmosphere and in a common experience and enjoyment of our stay in this beautiful region of Germany.
