Während die freie autoplastische Hautverpflanzung beim Menschen und beim Säugetier unter bestimmten Bedingungen immer erfolgreich sein kann, gelingt die erfolgreiche Homotransplantation unter denselben Bedingungen nur in einem geringen Prozentsatz1.
