Adrenocortical function in essential hypertension

  • Chapter
Essential Hypertension

Abstract

For the last 12 years, our main research work has been devoted to the study of the possible relationship of adrenocortical hormones and arterial hypertension in humans. Much clinical and experimental evidence, some circumstantial and some more direct, favors this approach to the study of the basic mechanism of arterial hypertension in humans. It is not our assignment, nor does time permit us to describe this evidence.

Work supported through grants from the Ministries of Health (Federal-Provincial Plan) Ottawa and Quebec, the Life Insurance Medical Research Fund, New York, the National Research Council, Ottawa, Canada, and the CIBA Company, Montreal.

National Research Council Medical Research Fellow, 1958–1961.
