Abstract
The auto-immune haemolytic anaemias are prototypes of auto-agressive diseases due to humoral antibodies. The nature and mechanism of action of these antibodies have been thoroughly investigated and the pathogenesis of the excessive destruction of blood cells has been well elucidated. However, the aetiology of the anti-erythrocytic auto-antibodies has remained a subject of discussion to date.
