Abstract
The propagation of waves due to the action of heat sources in a fluid-saturated porous solid is investigated. The equations used take thermo-mechanical coupling into account. First the equations governing the propagation of dilatational waves for the case of the action of heat sources in such a medium are obtained. Next the action of a point source varying harmonically with time is considered. These considerations are restricted to low frequencies, where the assumption of laminar flow is valid. The heat source is due to the propagation of three distinct dilatation waves. The numerical analysis shows that the waves of the second kind as well as the thermal waves are highly dispersive and highly attenuated. The attenuation of the waves of the first kind is small and the dispersion insignificant.
