Neue Kinderlosigkeit — Demographische Trends und gesellschaftliche Spekulationen

Zusammenfassung

Es ist ohne Zweifel, daß Kinderlosigkeit — ob gewollt oder ungewollt — eine wichtige demographische Größe darstellt. Eine markante Zunahme der Kinderlosigkeit, wie sie teilweise befürchtet wird, hätte enorme demographische Folgen. Unter den gegenwärtigen deutschen Fertilitätspräferenzen reduziert ein Anstieg des Anteils kinderloser Frauen um 10% die Gesamtfruchtbarkeitsrate um ungefähr 0,20. Sofern zunehmende Kinderlosigkeit das an und für sich geringe Geburtenniveau europäischer Länder weiter reduziert, wirken sich Veränderungen im Niveau der Kinderlosigkeit direkt auf die zukünftige demographische Alterung aus, wobei eine rasche Zunahme kinderlos bleibender Frauen und Männer langfristig sicherlich auch die sozialpolitische Solidarität weiter strapazieren würde.
