Abstract

In Chapter 2, we defined the algebraic structures called belts and considered a number of different particular forms of such structures, in particular the division belts. We now define a related type of belt, which we shall call a blog. Division belts and blogs will be the two most frequently occurring types of belt in the sequel, embracing as they do the real numbers and extended real numbers respectively.
