Zusammenfassung

Es ist für den Neurochirurgen, Neurologen und denjenigen, der sich physiologisch-chemisch mit dem Zentralnervensystem befaßt, wichtig zu wissen, daß Gehirn und Nervensystem Schauplatz von Immunreaktionen sein können. Es sind vor allem drei Dinge von Interesse:

  1. a)

    Das Feststellen von normalen und pathologischen Bestandteilen des Nervensystems.

  2. b)

    Es muß mit der Möglichkeit gerechnet werden, daß durch Bestandteile des Gehirns Immunreaktionen ausgelöst werden können.

  3. c)

    Das Gehirn nimmt, immunbiologisch gesehen, eine Sonderstellung ein.

  4. d)

    Immunbiologische Reaktionen erlauben nicht nur festzustellen, was vorhanden ist, sondern sie erlauben auch, den Weg und die Wirkungsweise einzelner Stoffe zu verfolgen, z. B. von Toxinen und Hormonen.
