Abstract
One of the most important contributions made by Sir John Eccles to physiology has been a new appreciation of the importance of nerve terminals in synaptic function. It is therefore appropriate to consider afresh the properties of motor nerve terminals, for many years a most controversial subject and characteristically one in which Sir John was, and is, still interested.
