Summary
Acute suppurative cholangitis is relatively uncommon, accounting for 15% of all cases of cholangitis. It is the most fulminant and serious sequela of choledocholithiasis and other biliary tract obstructions. Today endoscopic papillotomy is the essential therapeutic method having the lowest risk for the patient. With this method the mortality rate has fallen from 40% to 11%. Success depends on a clear diagnosis before manifestations of sepsis predominate in the clinical picture.
Zusammenfassung
Die akute eitrige Cholangitis ist eine seltene Erkrankung. Sie machen ca. 15% aller Cholangitiden aus. Wichtigster Faktor für die Entstehung ist die Stenose in den ableitenden Gallenwegen. Nach unseren Erfahrungen ist die endoskopische Papillotomie die erfolgreichste und risikoärmste Therapieform. Durch sie gelang es, die früher über 40% liegende Mortalität auf 11% zu senken. Dabei ist für den Erfolg entscheidend, daß die Diagnose vor Entwicklung einer Sepsis gestellt wird.
