Abstract

During the last 20 years pregnancy in diabetics has become of increasing importance, clinically as well as scientifically. The perinatal infant mortality is still high even in centres where treatment by experienced teams of doctors is available. At the same time the combination of pregnancy and diabetes has shown a multitude of scientific problems concerning internal medicine, endocrinology, obstetrics, and pediatrics, the solution of which are important beyond the field of diabetes and pregnancy.
