Resonance CARS Study of α. ω-Diphenylpolyenes in the Electronic Excited States

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Springer Proceedings in Physics ((SPPHY,volume 4))

Abstract

There has been renewed interest in the spectroscopic and quantum-chemical investigation of linear polyenes, concerning the low-lying singlet excited state of forbidden symmetry(Ag in C2h). The last state is now approved to be lower than the first allowed level(1Bu) in most polyenes[1], as illustrated in Fig.l for the systems investigated in the present paper. It is also well known that this state has large contribution from a doubly excited electron configuration.
