Abstract
During the past decades, the advanced IC technology has successfully reduced the size, cost and delay time of hardware devices. These reductions create or improve numerous areas of research and applications for computers. One of these areas is machine intelligence. In fact, machines with limited degrees of intelligence are already becoming an integral part of our lives. Examples range from sophisticated toys, health care, assembly automation and national defense. Pattern recognition techniques are among the most important tools used in the field of machine intelligence.
